Issues Based Campaign
So many issues face us. Dr. Birinder Singh Ahluwalia can tackle them and make our community a better place.
Health Care
Availability of good quality Health Care, delivered by qualified practitioners, is a basic and fundamental right of every Canadian citizen - "Where you want it and When you need it". In Canada, one of the most enlightened and affluent societies in the world, we are entitled to nothing less than the best Health Care.
Dr. Ahluwalia is not a proponent of privatization of health care.
However, there is simply NO excuse for the government's failure to ensure:
- NO WAIT TIMES
- LATEST TECHNOLOGY
- BEST DOCTORS........
I have been doing this for last 25 years.
Climate Change
The government’s denial of a mounting global crisis, or the muzzling of its own scientists and preventing them from raising valid concerns, jeopardizes the health and quality of life of our children and their children.
Our political parties have played dominoes with environmental issues, neglecting them to the point that it direly threatens our future. Just because disaster may not strike during a political party’s tenure in power is no reason for it to do nothing today.
- WE MUST ACT NOW
- WE MUST BE LEADERS, NOT EVADERS
- IT IMPACTS ON HEALTH, ECONOMY, FUTURE
- TIMELY ACTION WILL SAVE JOBS, CREATE NEW ONES.
Infrastructure
Our countries, roads and highways, bridges and tunnels, subways and railroads, water ways and air ways, are the arteries that carry the life-blood of the nation. Their neglect affects the very health of the nation.
We need to keep up with the construction, building and upkeep of our infra-structure. If tended to diligently, it is an ever-fresh source of jobs for our citizens, keeping our towns and cities functional and thriving at their optimum level.
Recent decades have seen a severe neglect of this important aspect of nation-building under successive governments. This is nothing but short-sightedness and merely hurts the economy and drains our coffers. We must never allow stagnancy, since it will stall all other growth.
- A WELL-MAINTAINED INFRASTRUCTURE ALLOWS A FREE-FLOW OF OUR LIFELINES
- CONSTANT BUILDING AND RELENTLESS RENEWAL SPEARHEADS GROWTH & PROGRESS.
Building the Middle Class
Canada’s Middle Class is the spine that holds the country upright, gives it strength, its posture, its movement, its structure. It bears the brunt of nation building, and nurtures it both as producers and consumers.
We tend to take it for granted and often neglect it, not realizing that it too requires the government’s support.
Our government to date seems to be preoccupied with catering to the needs and concerns only of the ultra-wealthy, not realizing that neglect of -- or worse, body-blows to -- the Middle-Class is harmful for our nation as a whole. It is a level of negligence we can ill-afford.
- MIDDLE-CLASS IS OUR BACK-BONE
- A STRONG MIDDLE-CLASS MAKES A STRONG NATION
Fair Taxation
Central to our values as Canadians is our commitment to fairness and equality, as well as our unwavering desire to help those amongst us who need a helping hand.
Therefore, our taxation policy should not be a blind adherence to outdated ideologies and principles but, instead, geared to the ever-changing demographics in our communities, with an eye on making sure that the hitherto growing disparity between the rich and the poor is addressed, and the middle class -- the backbone of our society -- receives the support it needs to flourish.
We also urgently need to simplify and streamline tax rules so that tax collection is fair and efficient, and not open to confusion, obfuscation or evasion. Our government needs the full revenue due to it, our people need to be spared surprises and unnecessary complications.
- FAIR TAXATION ALLOWS GROWTH
- FAIR TAXATION ALLOWS PROGRESS
- FAIR TAXATION CREATES A HEALTHY NATION
Affordable Daycare
The family provides the strongest pillars of our society. Therefore, affordable day-care is a necessity which must be given priority by our governments. It helps nurture our future, and helps build and support a thriving and prosperous workforce.
There should be not a single community or neighbourhood, and no segment of society, which doesn’t have easy and affordable access to daycare.
- DAYCARE STRENGTHENS OUR WORK-FORCE
- DAYCARE HELPS NURTURE OUR FUTURE
Education
The educational institutions we build and nurture, and the quality of education we impart to our new generations -- and ourselves! -- especially in this fast-paced, ever-changing technological world, is what will secure our future in terms of economic health, comfortable life-style, peace and stability, safety and security, progress and prosperity … you name it!
Why aren’t we the leaders in the world in hi-tech, in research and development, in new ideas and innovation? Why aren’t we taking advantage of the rich well-springs of culture, heritage and language that exist within our own boundaries -- a wealth of knowledge and experience which would otherwise cost billions if we were to set out to acquire it from scratch?
Our children are amongst the most privileged on earth, nurtured in the lofty Canadian values that make us deservedly proud the world over. We must empower our teachers, and our nurseries, schools, colleges, universities and research institutions -- our high-priests and temples of learning -- so that they can then turn our youth into leaders in every field of human endeavour.
- THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE TO GOOD EDUCATION
- THERE ARE NO SHORT-CUTS IN EDUCATION
- A NATION THRIVES ON GOOD EDUCATION
Seniors
Our government seems to think that tending to the needs of our Senior Citizens is a chore and should be addressed only if and when absolutely necessary.
That’s a shame, because one of the truest measures of any society is how it honours and looks after its seniors.
The Canada of today is what today’s seniors built during the course of their lifetimes. We stand on their shoulders, and it is imperative that we ensure their comfort and the efficient fulfillment of their necessities as a matter of priority, not a mere obligation. Their needs should never be toyed with, and brought out as a pawn during election time, and then forgotten thereafter.
Moreover, we have lost the ability to keep our seniors -- in their mature years, each a well-spring of knowledge, experience and wisdom -- engaged in society through mechanisms that help the passing of that wealth from generation to new generation.
- TREASURE OUR SENIORS
- YOUNG INHERIT THE WEALTH OF ELDERS
- WE ARE HEIRS TO THEIR KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & WISDOM
Native Indians & Human Rights
Canada has been a lighthouse to the world in the field of Human Rights -- until recent years.
Human Rights need to be particularly protected and nurtured in bad times, not abandoned when the going gets tough. Those amongst us who are the most vulnerable need their shelter the most: children, women, seniors, gays, disabled, the poor, minorities … and our First Nations!
In securing ourselves against dangers both external and internal, compromising on our most basic values of humanity and decency is like throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Because the hallmark of any great society is how it treats its most vulnerable segments ... even in the most trying of times.
It is time to restore to the fullest the Canadian values which have made us the most livable nation in the world.
- HUMAN RIGHTS & FREEDOMS ARE OUR FOUNDATIONS
- RESPECTING ALL OUR CITIZENS MAKES US STRONG & UNITED
